Hospice and palliative care are based on the concept that when faced with the end of life, patients
are able to die without pain, with dignity and support and that families will be supported
through the process as well. Hospice Care involves a team-oriented approach to medical care,
pain management, and emotional and spiritual support. The patient's needs, desires and quality of life are the focus.
Hospice care is available at all of The United Methodist Homes' skilled nursing and assisted living residences.
Hospice services are usually covered under Medicare, Medicaid, most private insurance plans, HMOs, and other
managed care organizations.
